OPI Show It And Glow It - with Konad

Last night I decided to try out an experiment.  I absolutely LOVE glitter-bomb polish, and have always worn it by itself; not even as a top coat.  But I decided to give Konading over such a polish a try, and I am fairly pleased with the results.

Outdoors, full sun, no flash
This is three coats of OPI Show It and Glow It!, a gorgeous chunky glitter polish from their Burlesque line.  It is completely gorgeous, with the main colors being medium pink, blue and silver same-sized glitter.  It gives off a really great sparkle.  Be prepared to stare at your nails with this one!  Application was very nice, like most good glitters.  Dry time was great and there was minimal bumpiness to the finish - two coats of Seche Vite totally smoothed out any rough feeling.

Zoomed-in view of the glitter!
As for my Konad experimentation, I used my favorite silver stamper Nicole by OPI Positive Energy and Konad plate m57.  While I wasn't sure originally if I was going to like the look of stamping over such a colorful glitter polish, I have decided I really like the effect.

What do you think - Konading over a glitter-bomb polish a yes or no?  Have you ever tried it?

Happy Halloween! Orange and Black Mani

Happy Halloween!!  I love Halloween night, it is so much fun!  Here are my Halloween nails,

Outdoors, evening shade, no flash
This is three coats of ChiChi Sally Spectra, a really pretty bright orange that was sent to me by Nicole from MAGIC MAID - thank you so much, Nicole!  The polish applied really well, although it was a tad thin.  This probably could have used four coats to eliminate all VNL, but three was enough since I was planning on adding the tips anyway!  Very smooth application with great dry time.

Cute pumpkin!  With blurry nails, sorry about that! :)
I used Konad plate m78 for the full nail design, and m19 for the black tips.  The final product being a very fun black and orange Halloween mani for my family Halloween party tonight! :)

Hope you all have a great Halloween!!

Manhattan 610K Around the World! Are YOU Next?

A little over a month ago, Kesha over at Nail Polish Obsession had a really fabulous idea - lets send a polish around the world!  So far this baby has been featured in two great mail blogs, and I will be thrilled to be the third!  I just got this fabulous package in the mail a few days ago from Sammy at The Nailasaurus...

Sammy sent me some yummy goodies from the UK, I am really excited to try them out!  In that bag is the scroll to log the travels of the polish, as well as the beautiful polish itself!

Manhattan 610K is a gorgeous purple color, I am super excited to try it out.  Expect to see it sometime in the next week or so!  Here are the two previous manicures done with this polish:

Here is the fun part - where I ask YOU if you would like to be next!  I am looking for the next place to send this polish (as well as some goodies, of course).  There are only rules:

1.  You MUST have a blog, and post your manicure on your blog when you receive the polish
2.  You MUST offer your readers the same opportunity - don't stop passing this polish around the world!

If you are interested, please comment, leaving me your name, your blog and your general location.  I will pick a random winner when I post my manicure, and send this baby on its way!

Are YOU a Good Witch?

So sorry for the lack of posting for the last several days.  My grandmother had a pretty big surgery on Monday and I have spent a lot of time at the hospital since then, as well as some other things going on... Thanks so much for not giving up on me!

Today I have for you a mani that is somewhat in honor of BCA Month, because it is a fairly beautiful pink shade.  Although I also honestly just wanted to wear it.  This one has been on my want list for quite some time, and I finally got it, yay!

Outdoors, full evening sun, no flash
To start off these nails, I used China Glaze Good Witch?, which is a really nice medium pink frost with pink microglitter throughout.  It is a really pretty color, but it is very sheer -this was four thin coats for full opacity.  Dry time was very nice though, so it was not that much of a problem!  The finish was almost semi-matte, and just a bit bumpy, which I have read was an issue with this polish.  However one coat of topcoat solved that problem.  I then added the stripes using Konad plate m65 and Konad Special White.  I topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite!  This has worn really well - I have been wearing it four days now (a combo of loving it and not having time to change my polish) and I have minimal tip wear and no chips.

Below I have included some photos of Good Witch? by itself.  It is really a stunning pink!

I hope everyone has been having a fabulous week!  I will have some final Halloween nails coming up for you soon.  Also don't forget about that giveaway! :)

China Glaze Ick-A-Body: My Perfect Halloween Polish

This is a polish I am sure you have all seen plenty of by now, but I HAVE to show it to you again because it is absolutely amazing!

Outdoors, full sun
China Glaze Ick-A-Body is a murky green base completely packed with orange glitter!  This happens to be three coats, even though two was totally sufficient on all of my nails but one, which was my fault.  So I just added a third coat to each!  Application was otherwise fabulous with a really decent dry time.  The surface was bumpy, as with most glitters, but a coat (or two) of Seche Vite or another top coat will smooth this down acceptably.  Removal was obviously a pain, so I seriously suggest the foil method!

Indoors, artificial light, no flash
In my opinion, this is the perfect Halloween polish.  I love it to pieces.  I seriously could not stop staring at my nails - at work, in church, out to lunch... it was that shiny.  It is a perfect pumpkiny color, and even though it is pretty much impossible to tell that the base is green it shows up every once in awhile, and I kind of like that it is something different.  I suggest you go and grab it before it is gone.  Mine will be getting heavy use every October from now on.  I think it also makes a very nice fall polish, doesn't necessarily have to be Halloween!

What do you think of this polish?  What is your favorite Halloween polish?

Now an amusing story (to me, at least).  I went out to the front yard to take pictures of my nails yesterday, and guess who I found sitting on my driveway?

Silv the Snake
I have never seen a snake outside before - ever.  So this was pretty entertaining to me!  Dan and I affectionately named him Silv.  He was about a foot long and pretty skinny (not big or scary at all).  He was having a hard time moving around on the driveaway, so I very carefully used a small metal rod to get him into the grass.  Only after taking about 30 pictures of him though, haha.  I think he felt fairly threatened by me, he kept opening up his mouth really big at me, like so:

Rawr!
I think it just made him cuter.  Sorry Silv, it is hard to look scary when you are that small.  :)
