Let's Get Star-ted

  Good morning all!  Hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead.  The last two weeks I only had to work 3 days a week because of all of the snow, so I've gotten sort of lazy, haha.  Time to buckle down and learn some neurology.  But for now, a fun design inspired by a beautiful KBShimmer creation!

  This look started out with three coats of KBShimmer Let's Get Star-ted, a sheer milky white base with medium and large black hex, medium and large blue hex, small and large purple hex and black star glitter.  While I love the polish on it's own, the colors were calling to me to add something else, and I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Blue Streak and Zoya Mira to add the swoopy tips, and Zoya Raven to outline the purple.  On the ring finger I added star rhinestomes from a Cheeky nail wheel.

  Let's Get Star-ted applied fairly smoothly for a glitter, and I was very impressed that I didn't have to hunt around much at all for the stars.  Placement was also fairly easy and I only moved around a glitter once, for the most part it spread out really well.  I think I am going to have to invest in a few more of these fabulous glitters, I am really impressed!

It's a Trap!

  While the entire China Glaze Cirque du Soleil collection was lovely, I only ended up with one of them, and I am so glad I added it to my collection!

  China Glaze It's a Trap-eze is a rainbow of glitter in a sheer milky base.  The glitters in here include white, blue, green, orange, pink, yellow... and probably some more that I'm missing, in a variety of sizes.  It's a bit on the thick side, which is to be expected with this much glitter, but applied really nicely in two coats.

  I really like the combination of colors in here, and it is pretty unique, at least to my collection.  It seems that China Glaze is catching on to the indie-glitter craze and trying to bring it to the mainstream salon brands, which is pretty fun.  If you like glitters and didn't grab this one yet, I would strongly consider it!  It's a wonderful polish - not a trap at all.  ;)

Peppermint Candy Canes

  For my first Christmas themed manicure, I decided to go with a holiday classic treat, candy canes!  While I was originally planning on doing just red on white, I decided it needed a little bit of green as well...

  For these nails, I started off with two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On, followed by Konad using Fright Night Claw Polish Toxic and Nicole by OPI Stuck In The Chimney on plate m65.  I carefully painted the red onto the solid stripes, and then carefully added the green on the dot-stripes, so that I could more easily get a multi-colored stripe look.  I think it turned out very nice!  Aside from the pointer finger, where you can see I was a little short on my stamping and attempted to compensate with a second stamp... should have just left it alone, haha.  I also apologize for the dry nasty cuticles - the winter is hard on them!  But I picked up some LUSH - Lemony Flutter at the mall the other day and it is already working its magic!  :D
