How many times can I Break til I Shatter?

In my quest to grow out these peeling, unhealthy nails, I suffered another setback last week when I had a bad break and had to cut them all back.  Good news?  I think they are FINALLY starting to get a bit stronger now... but I hated losing the bit of length I had grown back.  I guess I would rather them be short and strong for now though.  Hopefully I can achieve long and strong soon!

After the break I went with something simple.  This is Meep Meep Meep from the OPI Muppets collection, topped off with a coat of OPI Black Shatter.  I love the contrast between these two colors and the finish on Meep Meep Meep is incredible!

This weekend I am finally going to get around to doing some swatching!  I think my nails should be able to handle it by now, even if the swatches will be a bit short.  So expect to see a lot of the more recent collections soon!  Also, I will have a (slightly late) holiday giveaway coming up.  Hope everyone is having great end of the year!

  1. ...Over the line, can't define what I'm after. I always... Turn the car around. :D (Love that song. :D)

I hate it when I have a break, file back, start to grow out and blammo! Another one. Gah!!! Get out the file and start over all over, all over again. Somebody call the Waaaahhhmbulance.

Your nubbins are cute and that polish combo is great. I don't have any luck with crackles. Gave up on them but I adore Meep Meep Meep. :)

  2. Oh! Sorry to use your comments as my personal verbal (so to speak) vomit space but have you tried biotin for your nails? I have naturally thin, delicate extremely peel prone nails and a daily dose of 3000 mcg of biotin has been really beneficial.

I have better nails. (Not perfect, but definitely better! :D) They are a little thicker, a good bit stronger, peel much less and I have fewer breaks, cracks and chips. And, strangely enough, my eyelashes are longer, since I have been taking this stuff faithfully. :)

Okay. Shutting up and going away, now.

Meep Meep Meep wasn't on my list but I think I need to snatch it up, it's so pretty!

  4. Same here, but I have found some good super moisturizing bottom coats, which does help. I finally caved and bought Meep Meep Meep - love it with the shatter!

  5. So sorry to hear that your quest to grow out your nails was foiled. I've had good luck with Growing Nails with Garlic, Instant Artificials and Barielle Hydrating Ridge Filler. Plus lots and lots and lots of moisture, all the time! Good luck =)

  7. I always like the contrast of a sparkly polish under black crackle; it's just such a pretty texture.

  8. I'm glad Icy Queen mentioned biotin. I was just going to make the exact same suggestion.

My nails were weak and peely from fifteen years of nail biting. Even though it's been seven years since I quit biting them, they still haven't fully recovered from the damage I did as a kid.

A friend suggested biotin to me a few months back, so I started taking it daily, and--although it's still a work in progress--my nails are so much stronger now. It's pretty amazing.

Might be worth looking into, if you haven't already. :)
